Muon is a platform that enables users to save recipe links, plan meals, and manage tasks in one centralized hub.
2. Acceptance of This Policy
By using Muon, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must stop using our Services. By using Muon you certify that you are at least 18 years of age. This policy is effective as of the date listed above.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
We collect information you provide when you create an account, use features of the app, or contact us. This includes:
Account registration details: email address, name, phone number (if provided)
Content you create: recipes (including links and personal notes), meal plans, tasks, notes, and lists
Photographs, videos, and other media you upload or authorize us to access
Feedback you provide in user interviews, surveys, or beta testing sessions
Messages and information you send us when you contact us for support
3.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use our Services, we automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with our Services:

7. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
7.1 Service Providers
We share data with third-party vendors and service providers who assist us in operating the Services (e.g., hosting, analytics, email delivery, payment processing). These parties are contractually required to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
7.2 Publicly Shared Content
If you choose to publicly share a recipe on the Muon Explore page, that recipe will be visible to other users of the platform. Public recipes remain accessible on the Explore page even after account deletion (see Section 9). Recipes marked as personal are not shared publicly.
7.3 Business Transfers
If Muon is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or a prominent notice within the Services prior to your information becoming subject to a different privacy policy.
7.4 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations, protect the rights or property of Muon, prevent fraud, or protect the personal safety of users or the public.
7.5 With Your Consent
We may share your information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Specific retention periods include:
Account data: retained for the duration of your account, plus any legally required period after deletion
Comments: retained indefinitely to support moderation and spam detection
Google Analytics data: retained for 26 months
Email form submissions: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
Private content (tasks, notes, personal recipes): deleted within 14 days of account deletion (see Section 9)
Publicly shared recipes on the Explore page: retained after account deletion (see Section 9)
Anonymized/aggregated data: may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify you
9. Account Deletion
You may delete your Muon account at any time through the account settings in the app. Upon account deletion:
Private content—including tasks, notes, lists, and recipes you have marked as personal—will be permanently deleted within 14 days of your deletion request.
Publicly shared recipes that you have posted to the Muon Explore page will remain visible on the platform. These recipes become part of the shared community resource and are no longer associated with your personal account.
Anonymized usage data and aggregated statistics derived from your activity may be retained.
Certain data may be retained beyond 14 days where required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or compliance with legal obligations.
To initiate account deletion, go to Profile > Account settings > Delete account in the app, or contact us at privacy@muonapp.com. We will confirm your deletion request and notify you when the process is complete.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:
Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
Deletion: Request that we delete your personal information (subject to certain exceptions).
Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell personal information. No opt-out is required, but you may contact us to confirm.
Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@muonapp.com or by mail at the address in Section 1. We will respond to your verifiable request within 45 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
11. California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):
Right to Know: You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, our business purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
Right to Delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
Right to Correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by CPRA.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: We do not use sensitive personal information beyond the purposes permitted by CPRA.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights.
To submit a CCPA/CPRA request, contact us at privacy@muonapp.com. We will respond within 45 days (with one possible 45-day extension if needed, with notice).
In the preceding 12 months, we have not sold personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes, and we have not done so in the past.
12. Other U.S. State Privacy Laws
Residents of Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states with enacted consumer privacy laws may have similar rights to those described in Section 10. We extend these rights to all U.S. residents where applicable law requires. To exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@muonapp.com.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Services are intended solely for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at privacy@muonapp.com and we will promptly delete such information.
14. Data Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments.
In the event of a data breach that affects your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law, within the timeframes mandated by those laws (e.g., 72 hours under certain state breach notification statutes).
No method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
Our Services may contain links to third-party websites and may display embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles) from external sources. This Privacy Policy applies only to Muon. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
Affiliate links on our site may carry identifying information to third-party sites to track referrals. Please review those sites’ privacy policies for details.
16. Direct Marketing and Opt-Out
Muon may use your contact information to send you marketing communications about new features, promotions, and events. We will only send marketing emails with your consent. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also opt out at any time by:

Adjusting notification settings in the app under Profile > Preferences

Opting out of marketing communications will not affect service-related messages necessary to operate your account.
We will not provide your email address to any third party for their direct marketing purposes.
17. Anonymous and Aggregated Data
We may anonymize or aggregate data collected through the Services and use it for any business purpose, including research, analytics, and product development. Anonymized and aggregated data does not identify any individual user and is not subject to this Privacy Policy.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other business reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you by:
Posting the updated policy on our website with a new effective date
Sending you an email notification (if you have provided your email address)
Displaying an in-app notice
